Thought I’d Give Paid Surveys a Try… Paid Surveys Etc Review

I came across a product called Paid Surveys Etc so I thought I’d give the whole paid surveys thing a try. I got swept up in the sales letter - it’s very slick and well written.

When I logged into the account I realized a few things.

  1. It’s essentially a database filled with around 400 different paid survey sites.
  2. I’d need to sign up for them all myself one by one.

I got to about the end of the first page of market research companies. I wasn’t eligible to sign up for all of them (some were restricted to certain parts of the world or United States).

At about the end of the first page, I started to get invites to participate in surveys. I participated in one and got awarded points - I was nowhere near the cash out. I then participated in another and got really sick of it. The reward for that one was to be entered into a drawing.

Conclusion: Do I feel like people can make money with this as the sales letter claimed? Yes, I do. But it isn’t for me. I simply don’t enjoy filling out surveys.

Also, don’t let the sales letter fool you into thinking that it really is that easy. You literally have to go through and sign up for hundreds of different accounts at market research companies by yourself. It’s tedious. If you can stick it out, you’ll start getting offers to participate in focus groups and surveys and make a good side income.

It just isn’t in me to stick it out because I was tired of answering the questions. And besides, the whole thing just feels wrong.

  1. And as a marketing researcher, I can’t find adequate words to express how egregious and methodologically indefensible this practice is to our profession. Glad you opted out.

  2. @Frank Martin - I’m glad I opted out too! What a time-sucking waste. In the time it took me to complete that one survey for a measly amount of points, I could have been doing something WAY more productive. Not to mention all the time spent signing up. And now I need to backtrack and get my name taken out of the databases.

All of the focus groups and surveys on this site have been tested and verified. You will only make $1-$20 on surveys. There are some online moderated focus groups that pay much more (as much as $200. Some of the focus groups are in person and can pay as much as $550 for a 4 hour group. It really depends on the client.

  4. Thanks for sharing that - I’ve personally stopped doing the surveys but maybe someone will benefit from your info.

  5. I’ve had people say I should do this. I detest surveys. Answering questions is not my ‘cup of tea’!

I agree, we could be doing something WAY more productive than dishing out our e-mail address (probably to end up getting lots of sp*m–I hope you don’t get lots of it!) and answering boring questions.

I’m glad you’re off to do something else! ;-)

  6. @Michelle - Yes, the questions are SO BORING! “How many times per week do you purchase a cup of coffee?” “If yes, where do you purchase it?” Mind numbing stuff.

  7. Im with you all. I dont get it !
