As my HubPages account indicates, I signed up for the site two years ago. However, only recent have I started using it with any consistency. One thing that I’ve learned is that the site has multiple purposes.
- Helps you earn extra money online.
- You can use it to promote your existing projects, websites, and blogs.
But the thing that is most important is to create excellent content. Give people something they want to read because it’s entertaining and solves a problem. Then if you decide to promote your blog or website, make sure it pertains to the content and ultimately helps the reader. Otherwise, when you redirect people to another link, you could annoy people and lose readers if they didn’t find it helpful.
If you write things that people will want to read, you’ll build a loyal following. If you share with them a resource you found helpful, they’ll be more likely to click on the link if they enjoy the information you offered them.

I also have Hubpages, but I just signed up rather recently. I love that you have more-or-less creative control over how your content turns out looking. In addition, I’ve joined Associated Content, Helium, and Triond. So far the only one I’m earning any money on is Triond, and even though it’s not much, the community there is friendly and I think it’s due mostly to them I’ve been somewhat successful. AC and Helium are not the easiest to navigate through, but I do like carousing around their marketplaces to see who is looking for content for me to write. Each place has its advantages and disadvantages, I guess it’s really about finding which fits you the best.
Thanks for your testimonials, they’re very helpful.
